Determining your goals as a developer will help you make time to achieve them. Complex projects require deep knowledge and experience of systems in order to move quickly enough to make projects happen on a budget. The homework you do to prepare for these big challenges will not only make you a better developer, but also qualified to take on lead positions at higher pay.
Some good goals to focus on are your knowledge of languages and frameworks, your ability to communicate and work with others, physical fitness goals, design, project management, testing, open source contrib, etc.
In 2019, I'd like to learn more about testing and devops. I have enough knowledge now to tweak a test or tune a continuous integration system, but I'd like to get fluent enough to use these things regularly in my work. I also want to get these classes up and running and learn how to run a business and teach technology.
