I rescued an old Dell Optiplex 380 from a dumpster.
It has a Core 2 Duo E7500 from 2009, and 4gb of ram. I added a 256gb ssd.
I installed Linux Mint, but it felt sluggish, so I decided to install FreeBSD to use it as a server.
I'm familiar with configuring Linux servers, but wanted to try FreeBSD for long term stability and just to see what it's like.
Install went smoothly from a usb stick.
I forget the first few steps I took for configuration, but from here I was able to stash the box in a corner and access it via ssh.
